Breech Position with Prolapsed and Compressed Cord
The Breech position is when the infant is positioned with the buttocks or feet first towards the birth canal. The umbilical cord prolapse occurs when the cord proceeds the baby through the birth canal, and can lead to a compressed cord. This can cause abnormal fetal heartbeat and low oxygen levels. In this exhibit, the doctor is pushing up on the baby to relieve the pressure placed on the umbilical cord.
