This demonstrative 3D animation highlights the perception-reaction time of a driver with oncoming traffic in low light conditions. The animation recreates the light conditions at the time of the accident. The vehicles have their headlights on as well.
Working with the accident reconstruction expert, the animation shows a pickup truck drives onto the shoulder of the road, losing control and swerves back onto the road. Upon re-entering the roadway from the shoulder, the first truck impacts the second truck causing a spin. The two trucks spin and have a near miss with an oncoming van. The van's driver was able to perceive and react in time to avoid the collision.
