Open Abdominal Surgery Leading to Compromise of Blood Flow

This courtroom medical animation shows that during abdominal surgery there are several factors that can reduce blood flow to the spinal arteries. The internal organs are shifted and inspected. As a result of the shifting of the internal organs intimal tears can form within the small blood vessels leading to occlusion. Compromising the retroperitoneal space can compromise blood flow to the spinal cord. Cutting into the retroperitoneum, compromising the spinal arteries can cause fibrosis leading to inflammation and obstructed blood vessels. Widespread intra-abdominal adhesions due to multiple previous surgeries.
