This exhibit shows the coronal view of the gastroesophageal junction in a postoperative condition with a small superficial injury to the stomach. This injury progresses into a full thickness hole and an infected abscess forms around the hole. A drain and internal stent are then placed in the gastroesophageal junction to eliminate inflammation around the hole and allow the area of perforation to heal.
