Progression of Constipation with the Formation of Stercoral Ulcers
This exhibit displays the sagittal view of the abdomen with the progression of constipation and the formation of stercoral ulcers. When the rectum expands, pressure is forced down and causes a thinning of the rectum wall. Continued pressure and irritation of severe, prolonged constipation can result in the formation of stercoral ulcers.
