Surgical Elongation of the 1st Metatarsal (lateral view)
This exhibit shows the lateral view of the foot and ankle undergoing the surgical elongation of the 1st metatarsal. The normal foot anatomy in this view includes the medial cuneiform, 1st metatarsal, metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint, and the 1st proximal phalanx. Th preoperative condition shows dorsiflexion of the big toe and a shortened 1st metatarsal with an MTP joint fusion. The postoperative condition shows the 1st metatarsal extended.
