The Pathways of Migraine

The Pathways of Migraine

The coronal view of the brain showing the pathways of a migraine. A migraine can originate from deep within the brain wherein electrical impulses spread to other brain regions. Changes in nerve cell activity and blood flow may occur and chemicals in the brain can cause blood vessel dilation as well as inflammation of surrounding tissues. The inflammation then spreads across the nerves, causing pain.
