Trial Exhibits, Inc. was tasked with showing how a bowel perforation resulting from an obstruction led to sepsis in a patient. We determined that this was best shown through two illustrations. The first illustration demonstrates the mechanism in which a bowel obstruction becomes a bowel perforation leading to contamination outside the bowels. In the second illustration our medical illustrators used a series of pictures to show the progression of systemic sepsis as a result of the bowel perforation.
